SWTC PRESCRIBES “YARN THERAPI” FOR 2008
-- Eco-innovator introduces first yarn with jade

TEMPE, AZ –South West Trading Company -- Always all-natural and “unexpected,” the South West Trading Company team will don lab coats to introduce its soothing Summer 2008 collection at The National NeedleArts Association Winter Trade Show in January 2008.  Attendees are invited to stop by any SWTC booth for some fun “Yarn Therapi”—an introduction to the first yarn made with jade.
Revered by Asian cultures for thousands of years, jade is believed by many to embody harmony, healing and prosperity.  With Therapi, SWTC hopes to bring good luck and inner peace to knitters worldwide.

Therapi is a blend of 50 percent fine wool, 20 percent silk, and 30 percent Bowlder, a crushed jadeite-based fiber. While its mineral origins might suggest a certain stony quality, instead this groundbreaking yarn is incredibly soft and breathable thanks to the fiber’s unique honeycomb structure. The new yarn will be launched in 16 captivating jewel-tone colors. Machine washable, it will be sold in 50 gram balls.

Through SWTC’s efforts, Bamboo has become a staple in the natural fibers world and SWTC has used it in some of the company’s most popular blends. In 2008, knitters will discover XIE (pronounced z-eye), a lace weight, 100 percent bamboo yarn perfect for knitting, weaving or crocheting lace trims. XIE will be offered in 40 jewel tones on 100 gram cones. It requires hand washing.

SWTC’s  beautiful new Terra yarn also employs bamboo fibers in a 50/50 blend with cotton, a combination that yields a light, silky yarn. One of SWTC’s most affordable fibers, Terra produces a subtle two-tone effect when knitted. It will be introduced in 16 rich, earth tones in a weight suitable for year-‘round wear. And, all of the colors coordinate beautifully with others in the Terra line. Sold in 50 gram balls, Terra, like Xie, must be hand washed.

Rounding out SWTC’s Summer 2008 collection is an expansion of the company’s popular SOYSILK lace-weight yarn, Infinity. Perfect for crocheted lace, this beautiful yarn is so light and soft that garments knitted from Infinity feel like clouds. In 2008, the color range expands to 20 heavenly hues, available on 100 gram cones in a 16/2 weight. Hand wash only.
